Position: Lord Grand Councilor, leader of the Grand Council
Responsibilities: The Lord Councilor's primary duty is to officiate the Grand Council meetings. For each meeting, he determines what topics will be addressed, leads the discussion, calls for votes, and maintains order. His most important function during council meetings is that of an arbiter. When the Councilors are unable to agree on a course of action, the Lord Councilor can end the discussion by taking the argument out of the Councilors' hands and declaring his solution to the problem, which is then voted on. If an arbitrated solution does not pass, the Lord Councilor and the Eldram Councilor discuss and propose a different solution. Because of his position as arbiter, the Lord Councilor does not vote on any matter unless the issue is split. The Lord Councilor is also expected to keep himself informed on conditions and events throughout Felthespar, and making sure no high council oversteps its bounds.
Position: Champion of the Knighthood
Responsibilities: The position of Champion is neutral with respect to the Knighthood's various branches. The position of Champion is almost never given to a Knight with ranks solely in one branch.
Position: Councilor to the Eldram
Responsibilities: The Councilor to the Eldram is the Council's other neutral position, and the one with the most responsibilities. During Council meetings, the Councilor serves as a mediator, listening impartially to everyone's arguments and offering his own advice on compromises and solutions to problems. Once the Lord Councilor has declared arbitration, the Councilor to the Eldram is the only one allowed to discuss solutions with him.
Since the Eldram has much knowledge thoughout every division of the Knighthood, the Councilor acts as a lore-master, as well as being the Grand Council's historian and archivist. He is responsible for researching any topic the Council needs information on, and is often expected to have such information readily available. The Councilor to the Eldram talks with every other Councilor days before meetings, so he can know what topics might be discussed and do any required research on them. He also writes topic briefings for the Lord Councilor. There is a tremendous pressure on the Councilor to the Eldram to stay informed on nearly every known topic.
